Gympie Sunday Morning Markets

Gympie Sunday Morning Markets

We are very lucky to have Gympie Sunday Morning Markets every weekend. They sell everything from fresh local produce, healthy garden plants, home-made jams and cakes  to an assortment of car boot goodies.  There truly is something for everyone!

The venue for Gympie Sunday Morning Markets changes weekly from the Gympie South State School (locally known as Southside Markets) to the grounds of the Gold Mining Museum. You will find some stall holders do both whilst others are unique to that venue.

You will always find locally grown vegetables and fruits, together with a great range of plants at very keen prices. When I was planting the B&B gardens I was there every weekend, and because the growers are local if they didn’t have what I wanted on their stall they were happy for me to call them during the week and collect more plants. Yes, I was a VERY good customer of the plant stalls! Oh, and did I mention they also sell seedlings, vegetables, annuals, herbs they have them all.

The Gympie markets are a great place to find an array of tempting food stalls, no doubt aimed at those hungry market goers who get there early before breakfast!

The stalls vary from week to week,  as does the produce depending on what’s in season,  so when it is a good mango season, or watermelon, or citrus season you can get great bargains at the Gympie markets!

If car-booting is your passion, you do not miss out at the Gympie Markets, James has to keep a good eye on me because I always find all these wonderful things I didn’t know I needed…. even he has succumbed on occasions.

Dogs are allowed at the Gold Mining Museum Markets (at present) and Danny always accompanies us as he likes a walk around Lake Alford after the market (usual rules about cleaning up after pooches apply). Unfortunately dogs aren’t allowed at the Southside Markets as these are held in a school grounds (well that is the reason they gave me!).

How do you remember which venue for the Gympie Markets? it is quite simple; the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays are at the Gold Mining Museum and 2nd and 4th Sundays are at Gympie South State School, Southside. They start about 7am wrapping up around lunchtime, but as always it is best to get there early. A quick breakfast here at 8am and you can be there for 9am which is ideal.
