The Gympie Art Gallery began life as the school of arts and was first opened in 1905. It is very much a community art gallery and has a wide range of different shows from local artists, both professional and amateur to high quality shows from all around Australia.
You will also find workshops and “fun stuff during school holidays” at the Gympie Art Gallery. So as things are always changing, it is a great place to pop in and have a look around when you are visiting Gympie.
The Gympie Art Gallery is housed in a glorious old building, it has been beautifully restored, so well worth a wander around just to look at the architecture before you even get to the art! There is a great little shop which sells unique gifts and cards made by local artists at very reasonable prices, so for those hard-to-buy-for friends and family this could be just the ticket!
The Gympie Regional Council has a good section on its website with up to date info on what is happening at the Gympie Art Gallery – from Exhibitions and events to workshops, fun activities, competitions and loads more can be found here.
