With a name like The Blue and White Teapot Cafe, a lover of blue and white china and tea, such as myself, just had to check out this new little cafe in Amamoor. A pretty 15 minute drive down the Mary Valley from Lagoon Pocket B&B.
We are always after places to send our weekend guests, as so many of our favourite cafes are closed on the weekend. Enter The Blue and White Teapot which is only open from Thursday to Sunday so perfect for the weekend “lets go for a country drive” guests!
The cafe is charm itself, a former corner store it has been treated to a palette of, you guessed it, blue and white, and their collection of blue and white china makes mine pale into insignificance! there are a couple of tables and chairs outside on the footpath but the place to sit for me is the garden. It is absolutely magical, all those garden design programmes that talk about different “rooms” in the garden, well this tropical oasis has many charming little rooms where you can lap up the ambience along with your meal. There is an aviary full of chatty colourful budgerigars and a very friendly dog who will come and keep you company, no begging, he will just lie there beside you as though he is joining in the conversation.
Okay, enough about the setting, let me talk food now. There are the usual suspects, huge homemade scones with jam and cream, muffins, and for the savoury lover several different sorts of quiche and pies. James and I partook of a pie (James) and quiche and salad (me), followed by a shared scone. Delicious! I washed mine down with a pot of tea, which yes, turned up in the cutest little B&W teapot and James had a coffee. There were also milkshakes on offer and a selection of slices the day we visited.
The Blue and White Teapot cafe is an exciting addition to the area for a weekend lunch or tea stop, we will be back, I want to try one of those milkshakes!
