Not at all biased of course but we think the Gympie Show 2016 is the best country show going. This year, it’s 128th year I might add, it runs 3 days from Thursday 12 May – Saturday 14 May.
I hate to use that trusty old chestnut that there is something for everyone, but yup there is something to make everyone’s eyes sparkle here. I revert to childhood at the Show and poor James has to trail around the baby animals, say hello to every cow (beef and diary), all the fancy chooks, caged birds and that is before we even get into the pavilion and to see the art, flower arranging, cooking, cake icing (my particular fav) and handicrafts.
Fireworks every night at the Gympie Show 2016.
There is the usual show food but plenty of other naughty and delicious stuff to tempt you off your diet. Every year James has to have his annual Dagwood Dog and swears solemnly to me afterwards that he will not “do that again!”. Then each evening we have a fantastic firework display and again I revert to childhood, I adore fireworks!
It wouldn’t be a show without rides and the Gympie show 2016 certainly doesn’t miss out in that department. Even as a child they weren’t my thing, but I will brave the odd one (as James has trailed around all the animals etc etc). And I can’t forget the show bags (definitely too old for those), show jumping, a novelty dog competition and our annual evening trip (or two) to the Cattleman’s Bar to rub shoulders with real cattle barons in head-to-foot RM Williams and big hats.
Yes, we love the Gympie Show at Lagoon Pocket B&B!
