Nothing like a new cafe to get James and I out investigating, especially when it is in the Mary Valley. Half an hour’s scenic drive from us, just past Imbil this little cafe is beautifully positioned to take in the rural views and breezes. Add to this that it is proudly dog friendly (well behaved and on a lead) and we think we have a bit of a find on our hands with the Packing Shed Cafe.
We were greeted by the very handsome Maclary, or rather Hairy Maclary, a Labradoodle Schauzer, on arrival who set the relaxed tone for the cafe.
Lawrence, the owner and front of house man, let us choose a table outside to take in the view. And it is quite an outlook over the gentle farmlands.
There is a daily special’s board together with a printed menu. As we were out to dinner that night we just chose the tomato Bruschetta with a side of rosemary chips. Absolutely delicious, how much flavour chef Roger got into that simple dish was amazing and as for those chips, James and I nearly came to blows over the last one!!! Next time I will be having one of the delicious burgers we saw the other table chowing down on.
Lawrence and his wife Susan, are full of plans for the Packing Shed cafe. A Liquor Licence has been applied for and plans for a rustic bar area are on the table. Definitely a place James and I will have to keep revisiting to check on the progress. Oh, what a hardship!
