Gympie – The town that saved Queensland

The gold town of Gympie is at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast with easy access to the Fraser Coast and Fraser Island. It is less than 2 hours from Brisbane. Gympie is a great base from which to explore all the delights of South East Queensland.

Gympie is only 8 minutes away from Lagoon Pocket B&B. So if you want to avoid the motels on the noisy Bruce Highway, we offer you a great Gympie accommodation option – easy access, great hospitality, 4 star luxury and rural peace and quiet.

We find our guests are often surprised by Gympie. It is a town that has grown over the last few years. So many of the large retail outlets and fast food stores are here. But we have not lost the smaller shops and cafes where you can find unique items and personal service. Our favourite eating place is The Phoenix Pub (5482 1263) but there are lots of options that we can tell you about, including eating at the B&B. If you want a café with a difference, try Emilia’s (5482 8885) in Mary Street. We promise you will not be disappointed!

Gympie Heritage

Gympie has not forgotten its heritage. The Mary Valley Rattler steam train, the Gympie Gold Mining & Historical Museum, Woodworks Museum and the Art Gallery are just a few of the delights you will find on the Gympie Heritage walk.
