“Peaceful, delightful, relaxing retreat”
07/03/2016 - Really Liked It
Delightful, delightful, delightful. The instant we arrived I felt the peace descend upon me. Being a generally busy city person that was so valuable and welcomed:-)

Such gorgeous cared for gardens. We counted 6 species of butterflies which was so beautiful to observe.

Yes the rooms are very generous, the breakfast delicious, and hosts Suzannah and James very welcoming, friendly and really really nice.

But what made it even more special for us was the environment, it's lovely and as above so peacefully relaxing.

Sadly we only stayed one night BUT we now know where to stay in future when Gympie way:-)

“Fabulous Two Night Stopover”
21/01/2016 - Really Liked It
Lagoon Pocket Bed and Breakfast in the gorgeous Mary Valley, is a delightful rural find. It proved to be the perfect two-day stopover to rest up from a 1,000 km road trip before attending a wedding in Gympie the following day. Not only did the wedding turn out to be perfect but so too did our dining experience the night before at ‘Zesty Edibles’ that forms part of the historic Gympie homestead, Gunabul (highly recommended by our hosts, James and Suzannah and it didn’t disappoint). To cap off a wonderful stay, our daily breakfast experiences were thoroughly enjoyable – our two hosts provided scrumptious brekkies while we chatted at length with like-minded guests! Buoyed up for another 1,000km of tar and cement, we left Lagoon Pocket so much more relaxed yet so much richer for the experience.

“Quiet, Pituresque and Value for Money”
02/01/2016 - Really Liked It
My wife, son and I just spent a week over Christmas in Gympie visiting family. We used James and Susannah's B&B as base camp and I couldn't be happier with out choice of accommodation. Casual enough to be relaxing and professional enough to be highly recommendable. It's not the Ritz but it was clean and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble and I will be back there next time I'm in Gympie. Thanks Guys!

The room was huge, nicely furnished and all the home comforts that you could hope for. The peaceful setting made this a relaxing stay. Suzanna and James were exceptional hosts and made us feel very welcome. The brekkie on the veranda included fresh fruit and home made rolls and muffins, as well as the cooked fare. I would happily spend more time at this B&B on our next travels.

“Lovely retreat”
02/10/2015 - Really Liked It
We stayed two nights at this great B&B. It's near enough to Gympie to be convenient but set far enough into the hinterland to feel like a proper rural retreat. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped. The breakfasts were fantastic - home made bread and muffins. Best of all was the warm welcome from the hosts, with all the local knowledge they passed on.

The Lagoon Pocket B&B is Gympie's hidden gem. Plenty of room with a comfy bed and a very large ensuite, in a magical garden setting, made this the perfect sleepover for us and our miniature dog. Huge breakfast including home cooked bread and muffins. Delicious! James and Suzannah are wonderful hosts. Hope to return next year. Thank you.

“Oasis of calm in the countryside”
07/09/2015 - Really Liked It
I booked in at Lagoon Pocket on the basis of the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and my email contact with Suzannah...and it didn't disappoint.

The location 10 minutes drive into the beautiful countryside outside Gympie is perfect. The rooms are together in a block of 3 in a cool corrugated iron/rustic farm style. They are incredibly spacious (I stayed in the two at either end), nicely appointed with tea and coffee making facilities and the BEST bed I have stayed in outside my own at home.

There is a nice little private terrace area which is lovely for coffee in the morning at sunrise or drinks in the evening.

James and Suzannah are perfect hosts, they are very friendly and welcoming and always around to help if required.

Breakfasts are amazing. Eggs, bacon, local sausage (by local I mean grazed in the paddock next door at a point) fresh rolls and muffins and as much freshly ground coffee as you can drink. Perfection.

Free wireless is available, not a great signal in the rooms but you can go onto your back terrace or the breakfast terrace to pick up the signal if you want to. I never felt that I needed or wanted a regular internet connection sufficiently on this particular holiday to check that out.

Bathrooms are spacious and well appointed, shower strength is good. It would be handy to have more/larger towels (I am a big guy) but that is only a suggestion not a criticism.

I would recommend Lagoon Pocket to anybody (and have done already) I think for the money it represents truly excellent value.

A warm welcome by James and Suzannah and their dog Danny, a beautifully appointed dog-friendly unit, and a cold bottle of wine in the fridge and cold water for our two dogs were just what we needed to help us relax after a tiring day of highway driving. We all instantly felt quite at home. The bed was great and uber-comfortable and we had a sound nights sleep. In the morning, an excellent breakfast cooked by Suzannah together with pleasent conversation over cups of tea with our hosts on their lovely verandah gave us an excellent start to the day for our journey further north.

We booked this pet friendly B and B for us and our mum. We loved the photo gallery and reviews from other fur families. It's VERY quiet and Auntie Suzannah and Uncle James are fab cooks. Mum was in foodie heaven with Auntie Suzannahs dinners and desserts. Heaps of room in our spacious unit to stretch out and sleep. Nice to sleep inside on our beds. Lots of good smells on the farm and it was nice to meet Danny the Collie who lives there too. Very laid back few days for all. Happy fur kids means happy mum. Thank you Auntie Suzannah and Uncle James. Jana the Kelpie and Sebbe the Sheltie and their mum.

Our Border Collie loves playing with the owners own Rough Collie who plays the consummate host.

The breakfast you get served is huge and very yummy.

Working in Gypie for 2 months and travelling from Brisbne each week, I needed somewhere to stay that was very comfortable, relaxing and could accommodate my dog. Lagoon Pocket BnB is perfect! The rooms are outstanding in comfort, functionality and design. Private, clean with all the mod cons at hand. James and Suzanah are warm, gracious hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Their breakfasts are delicious and Suzannah's muffins made me the envy of the office! I highly recommend this bed and breakfast to all travellers. 15/02/2015 - Really Liked It
Needing to be in Gympie for day surgery we booked Lagoon
Pocket as a peaceful recuperative environment. We were not disappointed. Ditto to previous comments regarding the rooms, breakfast and friendliness of our hosts. I must add thoughtfulness and consideration for my husband's condition. James and Suzannah were such caring hosts and allocated us the wheelchair friendly room because of the rails in the bathroom (much appreciated by my husband after his surgery). James' patience with a senior's lack of IT savvy was much appreciated. Just wish I could have brought home a batch of Suzannah's mango/coconut muffins! Should we be in this area again, we would definitely choose Lagoon Pocket over any other accommodation!

What is not to love about this place? Great sleep, spacious room with thoughtful amenities. Room opens out to the grassed area for the dogs to meet & greet. The hosts, including the host dog, are an absolute delight and serve an amazing breakfast on the deck overlooking the garden. Very helpful too. We would still be wondering if our Border Collie could actually swim if they hadn't directed us to the perfect beach for a beginner. Turns out he's a natural in the water. In the few days we were there we did Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach, Gympie, Burrum Heads and more. Thank you for a great experience. Janis & Charlie

“Accom & food both a pleasant & welcome surprise”
07/01/2015 - Really Liked It
Found out about a public gold fossicking area in Gympie (Dept Natural Resources/Mines licence required). Had never tried our hand at fossicking so headed to Gympie for 2 nights, booking Lagoon Pocket B & B.

No gold found but this accomm, a scenic 10 mins out of Gympie, turned out to be the highlight of our trip:

James led us to our room (should say rooms - bed/lounge, dining, & bathroom areas), which were (surprisingly these days) spacious, as well as well-appointed, and clean.

Two delicious choc treats awaited us in the fridge and did not last long.

Really pleased the air conditioner was up to the task of cooling all rooms (had extremely hot days whilst there). The huge bathroom and shower area were also appreciated, with super soft water providing the most refreshing shower experience I've had in some time.

Also loved that the room opened onto a private back porch with table & chairs overlooking serene gardens. (A smooth Lagoon Pocket wine and 2 glasses accompanied us there each evening and may have somewhat enhanced the sense of serenity.)

After a comfortable nights sleep, we visited the main house deck for brekky each morning. The table was always beautifully set, and we were blown away by the presentation and flavour of Suzannah's bacon & egg breakfasts - where even rockmelon arrived in patterned slices. Suzannah also varies her muffin flavours (mango muffins being our favourite). Yum!

Took heaps of external photos of the grounds, fauna & flora - have attached quite a few here. If you want to see inside the rooms, visit the Lagoon Pocket B & B website (lagoonpocket.com).

Whether you're travelling to the Gympie area or just wanting a relaxing break in spacious rooms with great food and hosts and tranquil country surrounds, don't go past Lagoon Pocket B & B.

“What else do you want?”
16/12/2014 - Really Liked It
We stayed with James & Suzannah (and Danny) twice. Once when we moved to Gympie and we looked for somewhere to stay on our look-see visit and again just before we left Gympie a year later.
They made us feel very welcome in the area and we felt immediately at home. They also allow your pets to join and I think that is magic. The B&B is beautiful, the breakfast is freshly cooked for you and do not forget to order a dinner as well. This is what B&B is all about, nice owners, nice food, spacious and comfortable rooms and you can bring your pets - really what else do you want? Yes you can also get in 45 min to Noosa or in 1 h to Fraser Island, so the beach is included as well.
Go and try them, we would not stay anywhere else in the area.

One of the best B&B's we have stayed in. Lovely scenery. Felt like we were in the middle of the country. Was really great to find a place that was dog friendly. The hosts were very accommodating allowing us to modify the room for the sleeping arrangements of our 8 week old puppy. The breakfast was lovely, choice of homecooked food. The hosts also accomodated us as vegetarians. The conversation with the other guests around the breakfast table was great, much better than hotels or motels. We would definitely recommend this B&B to our friends.

Room Tip: Choose one of the rooms on the ends of the rows, more space to let dogs run around outside

We stayed overnight recently and had a wonderful stay, we travelled with dogs, and found the property to be welcoming, the rooms lovely and we'll maintained and clean. The hosts, Suzanne and James very accommodating to our needs. We had dinner and breakfast with them and couldn't fault the food or the company. We know that we stayed while all the other rooms were occupied with other guests, all with dogs but didn't hear a sound from any of the other guests or furry guests. We would definitely stay again, but for longer to take advantage of the relaxed nature of the property and surrounding areas, including a lovely short walk with beautiful views of the valley.

Room Tip: There is only one type of room available, but do take advantage of the breakfast it was scrumptious.

We decided on impulse to take an overnight trip away and cannot believe how lucky we were to end up at Lagoon Pocket B & B .. This was was more than a bed for the night it was a special destination - one we hope to return to again.
Our room was huge with an enormous bathroom - all spotlessly clean along with aircon, flat screen TV and private outdoor setting area. The bed was uber comfortable, good quality linen and perfect pillows - suffice to say, we had the best nights sleep.. Even the phone had a bed.. brilliant !
The welcome provided by James and Suzannah was delightful, not too over familiar, just a genuine desire to welcome you to their home and share their hospitality. .
We enjoyed a really nice cooked breakfast which set us up for the rest of the day. The property is not far off the Bruce Highway and is the perfect stop over to break up a trip or just a great place to go to have a wee break away.. either or, you will not be disappointed.
Thanks and we look forward visiting you again

Why would you stay in Gympie when you can stay at Lagoon Pocket.
Close to all the things you want to do and see. Day trips to Tin Can Bay - Rainbow Beach 45 minutes away - Kenilworth and the Mary Valley a must do. Back to a great cooked meal clean rooms and gracious hosts.
The great thing is you can take the family pooch Thanks James and Suzannah.

Lagoon Pocket B&B totally changed my perception of Gympie. I couldn't get over how beautiful and quaint this accommodation was. There is so much room in the bedroom and bathroom and I love the 'home-y' feel. Breakfast was wonderful, the service was amazing and I want to take Danny their gorgeous Border Collie home with me! I would most definintely stay at Lagoon Pocket B&B again and recommend it to everyone.

I had to stay out of town at Lagoon Pocket B&B during a work trip after finding that I couldn't make a last minute booking in Gympie. I ended up being so glad! The B&B was only ten minutes out of town and was just what I needed plus a four star touch! Home cooked dinner in my room was perfect after a long working day with the most delicious apple crumble desert. Breakfast before work each morning was devine! Savannah and James were so warm and welcoming, making my stay feel more like leisure than work. I can't wait to return, this time for a holiday!

We spent two nights here and are certain to go back when the opportunity arises. Susannah and James are exceptional hosts, the breakfast cooking was delicious, the room/s clean, spacious and well apponted. It was also the best bed I've ever slept in! As I was recovering from very recent surgery I had a few special needs which were met with no problems..
The location is close to perfect - not very far out of Gympie but beautifully quiet and rural with an abundance of bird life.

Lovely hosts who go out of their way to ensure your comfort and that you enjoy your stay. Breakfast was wonderful and all dietary requirements catered for. The room was spacious, clean and well cared for the and the bed was absolutely wonderful. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept on! The property and surrounds are beautiful and although you're only 10 minutes outside of Gympie you feel a whole world away.

Suzannah and James are very knowledgeable about the local area and have suggestions of things you can do and places you can visit if you're looking for something to fill in your time away.

James and Suzannah are perfect hosts , friendly and welcoming and having breakfast with them and the other guests on the verandah was terrific, we all chatted away like lifelong friends about places we had been and books we had read and we loved it, my daughter is still raving about her beautiful cooked breakfast ! Our room/apartment was spotless , spacious, and I could have stayed in the bed forever it was so comfortable, I will be going back for a longer stay with hubby as soon as we can. The best hosts in a wonderful B&B
09/07/2013 - Really Liked It
This was a return visit to a beautiful B&B enjoyed a couple of years ago. James and Susannah really are the best hosts, and they make the B&B experience an exceptional one. Our greeting upon arrival was warm and friendly, and that set the tone of the stay. James greeted us, showed us to our lovely room and ensured we had everything that we needed, including some recommendations for dinner that evening (we chose to venture into the local pub for an enjoyable meal of a steak, and a salt and pepper squid), before leaving us to our own devices.
Our room was wonderful, with a fabulously comfortable bed; a delightfully clean and spacious bathroom complete with aromatic shower gels and shampoos etc; a fridge including home baked brownies to go with our tea and coffee; ample hangers in the cupboards; and best of all - a verandah overlooking the garden to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility.
We spent two nights this time, so were able to enjoy two of the wondrous breakfasts. The first day we indulged in bacon and poached eggs, whilst other guests who were vegetarians had a vegetable stack with haloumi, which also looked delectable! Susannah had done a marvellous job of catering for gluten free and dairy free requirements with this meal also. The gluten free bread was actually tasty! The next morning was Sunday and this meant that there was a BBQ breakfast - yum, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, hash browns. Once again breakfast was sublime and this time we didn't need to eat for the rest of the day. We were beautifully replete! James did the honours on Sunday. Each morning there was fruit and cereal as well. A breakfast fit for kings and queens. James and Susannah wandered out to join us all for a chat after breakfast was served and all the guests enjoyed their company and their conversation. Great hosts!
I'd heartily recommend Lagoon Pocket to local and international visitors alike. We had possums visit during the night on our last stay, just to add a little colour. It's a great spot and we look forward to a return visit at some stage. Thanks Susannah and James!

Only 10 mins off the highway tucked away in the picturesque Mary Valley was Lagoon Pocket, this was our first stay in a B&B and it exceeded all expectations. The spacious rooms were spotless and tastefully decorated, with little treats in the huge bathroom and tasty morsels (home baked by Suzanne) in the fridge. A delicious home cooked breakfast was the perfect start for our energetic kayaking adventure that day. There are plenty of local activities to choose from for the energetic or just sit back, relax and enjoy the peaceful surrounds of the B & B. You can drive into Gympie for dinner or pre organise a home cooked meal with the hosts. A fantastic little getaway and escape, just a short drive from the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, I would certainly recommend a stay at Lagoon Pocket.

“Great B & B with excellent hosts”
24/06/2013 - Really Liked It
Great B & B with excellent hosts. This lovely B & B is set in the countryside in Mary Valley, about 10 mins drive from Gympie. The rooms are large, comfortable & beautifully attired. Was delighted to find that they have a handy little fridge with a home cooked tasty little morsel to go with our afternoon tea. The ensuite bathroom is huge & supplied with lovely eco shampoo, etc - I'm a sucker for a beautiful scent. As everyone else has mentioned breakfasts are the highlight, with freshly made goodies served by the hosts, Suzanne and James, who were both delightful.
Only slight drawback was that the free wifi didn't work in our room. Normally though that wouldn't be a problem as you can sit on your own private veranda or go over to the main house; unfortunately it was pouring rain one of the days we were there, which made it a bit of a pain.
Highly recommend Lagoon Pocket & would be sure to stay there if we were up this way again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this Bed & Breakfast. Would highly recommend this area to anyone just wanting a quiet getaway for a few days. The food and service were excellent. So glad we did not stay at a hotel. This is the first time we have stayed at a bed and breakfast accomodation and we will be doing it more often now. The country seting is much better than going to a beach with lots of tourists. James and Suzannah made our stay so trouble free. We had breafast and dinner(you have to book for this) provided and the food tasted so much better than a hotel. It was so fresh and tasty. The room was so comfortable and large. We were looking for a place that was not to far away and that was dog friendly as we have a 4 legged kid. Sometimes you just need to get away from familiar surroundings and constant house work and maintenance. We have surely found it at Lagoon Pocket B & B where it is quiet, friendly and relaxing. Accomodation was spotless, roomy and private enough, breakfast was delicious and our hosts most accomodating. The hound found a friend in Danny the host dog and also had a good time. It is a pity that the countryside is so dry at the moment, a little rain would make the property and the surrounding scenery all the more picturesque. We will definitely return for a longer stay and explore all that the Mary Valley and its villages and markets have to offer.

Hi everyone Lagoon Pocket is just outside of Gympie and we spent just one night there. (Far too short to enjoy all the little luxuries this lovely B&B offers). Accomodation is very spacious and very clean but best of all it accomodates pets inside and out. James & Suzannah couldnt be more helpful in guiding us to their accomodation late at night when signs were barely visible. Our visit was quick as we had to be off early in the morning - still a homemade breakfast was brought into our room before retiring so we didnt miss out. All in all a wonderful short stay.

Breakfast was scrumptious with James's home made bread and some wonderful raspberry muffins, plus of course bacon, eggs and more. Very peaceful - lots of birdsong, pleasing outlook from the terrace, resident collie charming as of course were our hosts James and Suzannah.

My only reticence in writing this review is that if I tell too many people about how much we enjoyed our stay, and that we will certainly be wanting to return, it might get booked out and we won't be able to get in! Them's the breaks!

Lovely spot. Highly recommended.

We were only there for one night but our experience of the hosts and wonderful breakfast was very positive, echoing other comments however I have to say that the biggest positive was the accessibility. Our experience at Lagoon Pocket Bed & Breakfast came after a horrific week of change over from one living experience to another. Nothing we achieved that week had been straightforward. Imagine our relief and pleasure when we arrived at Lagoon Pocket to find it was everything, and more, than we had expected. We had a wonderful afternoon of rest followed by a sumptious dinner (chicken leek pie - excellent) then the next morning we had a really full country breakfast. We loved the little extras (like the pattern on the pineapple plus too many more to mention them all) that made our stay over a luxurious treat. Many thanks Suzannah and James - we will come again.

We arrived later than had planned (for a 3 night stay) to understanding and smiling, welcoming hosts James and Suzannah. Whilst the beautiful cooked breakfasts were wonderful, with fruit and veg sourced locally wherever possible, the surrounds peaceful and conducive to 100% relaxation, the accommodation spotless and very comfortable .. what really made this trip special for us was the wonderful giving nature of the hosts James and Suzannah. It has been a long time since we have experienced such warmth. We had also booked for ourselves an additional treat of an evening meal cooked by James & Suzannah themselves, and were given the option not only of what we would like to eat from a menu of homemade goodies, but also if we would like it in our privae B&B room or to share it with our hosts in their beautiful home ... naturally we chose the latter and thoroughly enjoyed a night of fantastic food, stimulating conversation and many a laugh!! We can't recommend our hosts highly enough and their desire to help with any need we had in finding our way around the area. We highly recommend their services at Lagoon Pocket B&B. My husband, daughter and I stayed at Lagoon Pocket B and B last weekend and had a thoroughly pleasant stay. We have stayed in Gympie previously but always by the main road and endured the traffic noise. Lagoon Pocket is tucked away peacefully but close by the main part of town. The room we had was extremely spacious, very clean and comfortable and very pretty:) Breakfast was lovely-fresh and lots was home made-the passionfruit butter was a real award winner!

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast chat with James and Suzannah. I really liked that the accommodation was separate to the main house too. Who would ever stay in a roadside establishment when for a couple of extra kilometres you could stay at Lagoon Pocket? The price was great, too. Very good value for excellent quality.

We enjoyed our Saturday afternoon trip on the Rattler and we had a great curry at the local Indian restaurant.

We will return to canoe on the Mary River, enjoy some horseback riding in the Valley and stay at Lagoon Pocket B and B:)

We stayed at Lagoon Pocket B & B for almost two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation is without fault and the surrounding gardens are beautiful and add to the quality of this B & B. Breakfast is a must if you are staying with James and Suzannah! It was consistently of a high standard and left us feeling full and satisfied. We could get used to breakfasts like those everyday! We especially enjoyed that a lot of the food was home grown or home made. For us it is important to travel with our dog and James and Suzannah allowed us to do that. Minka was very happy staying there and enjoyed playing with their dog- Danny. Danny is beautiful and very patient and friendly with all dogs and children. The hosts are amazing and really top off a perfect experience. Highly recommended!!!!!
Room Tip: I believe all of the rooms are the same/ similar. They are private and excellent.

Initially drawn for our purposes of finding pet friendly accommodation in or around Gympie, we were very pleasantly surprised by our experience at Lagoon Pocket.
First and foremost, we really enjoyed the company of our hosts - Suzanah and James - and appreciated their hospitality. The first welcoming touch was to let us know that there was fresh milk and chocolates in the fridge - which really set the mood for us. Bags into room, jug on - sitting out on the patio, amongst the lovely leafy surrounds - a sweet treat and a cuppa (what more could you want)
Clean comfortable furnishings - but really for us the highlight was the setting of the patio, the friendliness of our hosts and the welcome that our furry boys and our family received.
We all really enjoyed the night we stayed here - and felt at home right away.
Breakfast was ample - and Suzannah ensured that there was no dietary requirements - and we really enjoyed her lovely muffins to finish off our breakfast.

Well done - great place to spend a night or two
Thanks for your hospitality - really enjoyed chatting with you both!

Lagoon Pocket B&B serves up old-world charm, home-cooked meals and all the peace and tranquility anyone needs, just 10 minutes from Queensland's busy Bruce Highway. Suzanne and James are the perfect hosts, offering friendly hospitality for both guests and their pets. Rooms, separate from the main house, are spacious, comfortable and very private. The historic town of Gympie, the beautiful Mary valley and nearby Sunshine Coast provide plenty of sightseeing and attractions.

Lagoon Pocket B&B is a very special BnB, with an interesting history linked to the origin of the buildings as the local school and headmaster's dwellings, and now beautifully refurbished with great attention to detail.

Set in a lovely rural area, the doors of our room opened to the wonderful outdoors with lots trees and birdlife, and plenty of opportunity for walks. We also took a ride on the local steam train which winds through the countryside offering lovely views of the area.

We loved our one night stay, and enjoyed the hospitality and wonderful huge delicious breakfast provided by Susannah.

If the opportunity arises we would definitely visit Lagoon Pocket BnB again, and we highly recommend it to travellers passing through this region!

From the time we arrived we were made feel extremely welcomed. James and Suzannah are just gorgeous hosts. Located so close to Gympie and the Sunshine Coast and yet the ideal setting of quite surrounding bushland makes it a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Our room was quite large with a country feel and with a beautiful outlook from a private patio. The decor is lovely and I really enjoyed reading about the history of Lagoon Pocket B & B displayed lovingly for our enjoyment. Breakfast was a highlight as the setting was relaxed and welcoming, while engaging with other guests was made easy as James and Suzannah happily kept the conversation flowing as they shared some of their many wonderful stories and experiences. We highly recommend staying at Lagoon Pocket B & B for a relaxing and refreshing 'getaway from it all'.

James and Suzannah are so lovely! The room was spacious, as was the bathroom. The decor was countryish and cute! The room was very clean and had a pretty view of the bush. The surrounding bushland was so beautiful and the location was perfect. . . just a short drive to Gympie and the shopping centre for supplies. Suzannah was very helpful with giving us directions on how to get to where we needed to be. The breakfast was divine!!!!!!! 🙂 Danny the dog was a sweetheart and the native wildlife (possums, birds etc) and chickens were beautiful!! The attention to detail did not go unnoticed, from the natural shower gel, shampoo, cotton buds in the bathroom to the chocolate slice in the fridge!! I would highly recommend staying at Lagoon Pocket Bed & Breakfast for a relaxing week end away! 🙂

We used to stay at motels, but now generally stay at B & B's because of the interaction you experience with the owners and other guests, and James & Suzannah are great! They are happy to share their experiences, and the breakfast was simply superb. The location is quiet (and only a short drive from Gympie), the rooms spacious, and all the "bits & pieces" are provided. I would have no hesitation staying here again.

I stayed overnight on a work trip, James & Suzannah were wonderful hosts and fantastic chefs. Beautiful Mars bar Slice in the fridge on arrival, outstanding breakfast to wake up to, and all the little things down to the shampoo and body wash were delightful. A great way to relax, and there is even a peacock who will come and say hello.

Last minute blessing
15/11/2011 - Really Liked It
After a last minute realization that we were unable to stay at the destination that I had planned, because they said they were pet friendly but not in the cabins I had to make a plan for a new destination. So after a quick stop over at the BP North bound out of Brisbane where they have a great tourist kiosk I found a lovely lady to help me find a new destination that allowed pets with no real restrictions. I found Lagoon Pocket Bed & Breakfast and James and Suzannah were able to accommodate us for the night with no trouble at all. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown our room for the night, given a few tips on a nice afternoon walk in the fresh air and organised a time for breakfast in the morning. Our room was large and very comfortable, a/c was excellent, a lovely yard for Riley to enjoy running around. James and Suzannah welcomed us to breakfast the next morning with beautiful home made bread with many assorted accomliments, fresh fruit, juice, enjoyed chatting with us whilst they cooked us the best scrambled eggs I have had. Riley was able to enjoy the company of Danny the resident dog. If you are looking for somewhere to stay, where your pets are welcome as much as you are, a beautiful country location, with great hospitality then Lagoon Pocket B & B is the place for you. Kind regards Marc, Alaine, Annette & Riley.

We recently spent 3 nights at Lagoon Pocket B&B after reading many excellent reviews, and this delightful B&B definitely lived up to its reputation! James and Suzannah were so friendly and welcoming, even after we arrived to check in at 10pm and they had to wait up for us (which I do feel badly about so thank you so much for that!). Breakfast was superb and changed daily, the property was beautifully kept and the room spacious, clean and homey. We planned this trip as a brief escape from our busy life and I doubt it would've been anywhere near as relaxing if not for Lagoon Pocket B&B. And of course it was so great to find somewhere that allowed our little pup Sunny to stay also! Thank you so much James & Suzannah, we will definitely be back.

The food was terrific, and the home baked treats that accompanied every meal completed the service. After a last minute decision to get away for the weekend, we were lucky enough to find a room at the charming Lagoon Pocket Bed and Breakfast. As we had a dog with us, choice of accommodation was limited, so we were delighted that the Lagoon Pocket had a room...... we definitely picked a winner! Our room was in the converted Lagoon Pocket school house, which was next door to the old school masters house ( the B&B owners house) and was comfortable, roomy, clean and warm. The bathroom was huge and had lovely towels and shampoos etc. Our children were very happy to find some scrummy brownies in the fridge as well!! Talking of food, the breakfast cooked by our lovely hosts James and Suzannah was to die for....home made bread, muffins, cooked breakfast, homemade jams and enough to fill you up for the day that we wern't hungry until dinner time!! James and Suzannah were very helpful, giving us maps and information on the area and were very relaxed and friendly throughout our stay. We will definitely be going back, when up on the sunshine coast again!!

We recently stayed 2 nights at the Lagoon Pocket B&B. Having never stayed at a B&B before, I was a little apprehensive as to what to expect, however James and Suzannah were delightful hosts who made us feel extremely welcome.

It was wonderful to know that our little dog could come away with us as well, and it was her first trip away from home as well and I know she enjoyed herself thoroughly.

The home cooked breakfast was fantastic and an absolute treat with bacon, eggs, tomatoes, freshly baked bread, home made muffins and home made lemon butter and a variety of spreads. It was a real pleasure.

Thank you James and Suzannah for your lovely friendly nature and for making our first stay at a B&B a memorable one. (PS. Thank you for the lemons you sent us home with as well my son and I made a beautiful batch of biscuits and we still have a few left over!)

07/06/2011 - Really Liked It
I often travel for work, and stumbled across Lagoon Pocket late one evening, after that one stay I was sold! Every trip since then I've stayed at Lagoon Pocket and will be coming back for pleasure now too!
The whole experience was fantastic! The rooms are large, comfortable and tastefully decorated, but the element that always stays with me after leaving, is the hospitality. James and Suzannah are excellent hosts, from the minute you arrive to moment you leave you are welcome. And breakfast? Well as a vegetarian, finding something other than cereal can be difficult, and at Lagoon Pocket it is anything but! Fresh fruit, homemade muffins and a wonderful cooked breakfast (and of course there was cereal for others also). And in the event you're arriving late into town, dinner can be arranged in advance and it's always been just as delicious.
For anyone searching for a place to stay in and around Gympie I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you stay at Lagoon Pocket.

Breath of good ol country air
05/06/2011 - Really Liked It
I suppose its my fault but I did not know from the wot if site what sort of accommodation it was however i loved everything that makes Laggoon pocket not a hotel. Felt an extra personal touch that is never achieved at hotels but i found it here. If I can dare to be critical. I am a movie watcher and enjoyed watching a few movies on the laptop however would have been nice to watch through a resonable tv se/video player. Having sited this as an improvement it did push me to make the most of the day and venture out to the national park and climb Mount Mothar which was very enjoyable. Another improvement which is no major problem but my tom tom found it without too much trouble but, on arrival I was unclear wheather i was parking in your own driveway or guest parking... Some simple sign will solve this deleemer. Over All lovely rooms. both private and suitable for a larger crew. I also found myself wanting for a evening meal and whilst we chose to eat in town. I did see eating places with phone numbers to call but assumed it was for bookings not delivery. I also wouldnt have mind maybe an option for cooking myself like the bbq on Sunday breakfast. Please note that i have found these items as an extra and not as any unpleasentness with the provided room and meals. Over all a fantastic weekend much better then expected... I attribute this to the warm hospitality of both you and your wife.... Just terrific thank you!!!
Room Tip: Go bushwalking......Ask hosts for maps!!!

Not Child Friendly
24/05/2011 - Didn't Like It
The place was very clean which is a big plus, however the owners are much more likely to welcome dogs than children and should advertise "ideal for older couples and their pooches". In fact one of them appears dog obsessed. Breakfast was bit too much like school camp as you are all sitting around the one table sharing all the condiments - and there is an onus to be cheery and chatty with perfect strangers . I can see what they were trying to do, but didn't work for us. One thing the owners didn't consider is that a loud opiniated stranger with imposing views early in the morning is at best grating and at worst will spoil the stay.

I prefer B&Bs where owners are more relaxed and don't try to force the humour; let guests decide if they want to be introduce themselves to others. You want to be able to sit at your own table, enjoy your breakfast and if you choose to talk to others who you find friendly, so be it. Also portion sizes for breakfasts were not generous at all compared to other B&Bs and no-one asked "how do you like your eggs?" - you just got what was plonked on the plate; coffee was well below par. The surrounds were very pretty but atmosphere lacked some genuine warmth.

Arrive nice and early so that you can take in the full ambiance of the area.
From this enjoy the local area and make sure you do not fill too much the night before with food, as the breakfast is excellent.
The breakfast is a combination of range of typical breakfast items, but to a superior standard.
I have travelled around the world a lot and stay in similar places. Having said that, this is the best one I have stayed and and for the cost well worth the every cent spent.
